After Hours with Matthew Rorick
Join us after hours for an evening with California winemaker Matthew Rorick! Matthew has been the winemaker behind the Forlorn Hope label since its inception in 2005. Practicing an admirable level of attentiveness in the vineyard, he produces wines that are consistently compelling and roar with the beauty of the Rorick Heritage vineyard site in the Sierra Foothills. He will taste us through four of the latest releases from the estate, each paired with a snack from our friend Chef Matt Kirwan of Home Plate RVA. Doors open at 8pm. Please note this is a standing cocktail-style event.
From the winery —
"Taken from the Dutch ‘verloren hoop’, meaning ‘lost troop’, Forlorn Hope was the name given to the band of soldiers who volunteered to lead the charge directly into enemy defenses. The chance of success for the Forlorn Hope was always slim, but the glory and rewards granted to survivors ensured no shortage of applicants. These bottles are our headlong rush into the breach. Rare creatures from the limestone slopes of Rorick Heritage Vineyard, these wines are our brave advance party, our pride and joy – our Forlorn Hope."
